NGC 5189

NGC 5189, also known as the Spiral Planetary Nebula or Gum 47, is a complex planetary nebula located in the southern constellation Musca (the Fly). Discovered by James Dunlop on July 1, 1826, it was initially misclassified as a bright emission nebula until the 1960s, when spectroscopic analysis revealed its true nature as a quasi-planetary nebula. It lies approximately 1,780 to 3,000 light-years from Earth and spans about 3 light-years in diameter.

Captured for 16 hours on the Vespera II and edited in PixInsight.
