The Ultimate Crossover
It’s a big week for gaming, with two of my favourite franchises (Aliens and Star Wars) releasing premium games this week: Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 and Star Wars Zero Company.
With over 200 hours in A:FTE 1, I was definitely looking forward to the sequel. Reviews dropped last week and everything seems well received. I’ve been through the first mission so far and am very much enjoying the renewed experience. It certainly has the same feel as the original, with quality of life updates sprinkled throughout.
There has been a little controversy with Steam reviews currently sitting at “mixed” (they were “overwhelmingly negative” this morning). Most of the complaints seem to be about the regional pricing or Unreal Engine 5. I was happy to pay the price for another 200 hours, and I haven’t encountered more than a hiccup or two on my 3080. It runs a lot better than most AAA games seem to on day 1, and they’ve already released a massive bug patch to fix many of the issues.
I’m definitively looking forward to getting into this one with my mates.
I don’t know where I’ll find the time to fit Star Wars:Zero Company in, but I’ll give my first impressions when it releases in two days. Maybe AFE2 for playing with mates, and SWZC for playing with, or by, myself…
