NGC 1566

NGC 1566, nicknamed the Spanish Dancer, is an intermediate spiral galaxy located approximately 69 million light-years away in the constellation Dorado. It is the brightest member of the Dorado Group and is classified morphologically as SAB(rs)bc, featuring a weak bar structure and strong, symmetrical spiral arms that give it its nickname.

This mosaic was captured on the Vespera II for almost 24 hours. The wider field shows a number of other faint galaxies in addition to NGC 1566.
