Logitech MX Master 4

New look and feel with a curious circle of dots

Intro

The Logitech MX Master 4 is the latest evolution in Logitech’s flagship line of productivity mice, designed for professionals, creatives, and developers who demand precision, comfort, and advanced customisation. Released on September 30, 2025, it builds on the acclaimed MX Master 3S with significant upgrades, including haptic feedback, an Action Ring, and enhanced connectivity.

Improvements

Right, with the formal introduction out of the road, let’s have a look at Logitech’s latest outing. I already have the MX Master 3S, and I had the MX Master 3 and MX Master 2 before that. So I have a bit of a history with these mice since moving on from the venerable Microsoft Intellimouse.

So firstly, the price. This is a premium mouse at $AU200 from JB HiFi. And in my opinion, if you want the best things in life, this is worth it. Having used the 3S since release, I have a certain level of familiarity with it, so I thought going to the Master 4 would feel basically the same. It’s the same size, it looks the same, it must be no different, right? Wrong.

This mouse feels like a fresh set of sheets, or opening a bag of coffee beans for the first time. Familiar, but nicer. The surface is different for starters, gone is the rubbery grip, replaced instead with a hard plastic material with strategically placed texture for grip. The glide feels different too, smoother and more precise. It’s the buttons though that take the prize: a satisfying click feel, with a much reduced volume making them almost silent. The scroll wheel feels different, with the unclutched spin having a slight “bump” to it rather than smoothly free spinning like before. The thumb wheel (which I use for volume) also has a more satisfying feel to it. There was nothing wrong with the ergonomics before, and I never wished for anything different, but Logitech have somehow made it all better.

New Features

But now I need to talk about the two new features of this model, beyond minor ergonomic and stylised changes. It’s now a haptic mouse, and also features an Actions Ring containing often-used shortcuts.

The haptic feedback feels solid, and there are 4 levels of intensity you can select. This is all demonstrated when you add the mouse for the first time in the LogiOptions software. Speaking of the software, it was kind enough to offer to bring all my settings across from the Master 3S, a welcome feature indeed.

The Actions Ring is a very unique feature. It has integration into Windows, allowing opening of Explorer, or taking a screenshot. It also integrates with software such as Photoshop or Da Vinci, providing software specific shortcuts that you can utilise if you desire.

Conclusion

This is by far Logitech’s best mouse yet, and I would say, the best mouse I’ve ever owned. It’s pricey, yes, but if you can afford it, it’s the best you can get.

The haptics and Actions Ring are welcome additions, and the overall feel of the mouse is nothing short of glorious. Highly recommended.
