Rho Ophiuchi

Unfortunately I was unable to acquire as much data as I was hoping for, but it’s a start, and I will attack it again when the weather finally clears up again.

The Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is a complex of interstellar clouds with different nebulae, particularly a dark nebula which is centered 1° south of the star ρ Ophiuchi, which it among others extends to, of the constellation Ophiuchus. At an estimated distance of about 460 light years, it is one of the closest star-forming regions to the Solar System. The Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is a large complex of bright and dark nebulae located in the constellation Ophiuchus. It surrounds the star system Rho Ophiuchi (triple stars on the left) and is one of the nearest star-forming regions to the Sun.

The bright orange star is Antares, and can be seen clearly in the “head” of the constellation Scorpius. The small cluster is M4, and the bright star at the top is Alniyat.
